Transformation Northwest Dhaka Centre

June 18, 2026

From learning her very first computer skills to dreaming of a future in business, Fatema’s story is just one example of lives being transformed in Northwest Dhaka.

Through education, training, and community programmes, this centre is helping young people and families grow in confidence, character, and opportunity. Discover why your support is important.

“ Alongside their academic studies, they continue to engage in moral education, exploring topics such as the story of creation, honesty, and the dangers of false praise, helping to form both character and understanding.”

Thank you for your continued support for this project. We cannot do this work without your partnership. We are also sharing with you a new name that builds on our previous name and further exemplifies our goal for the project- transformed lives! To that end, we would like to share with you one story about Fatema, a recent computer student.

“My name is Fatema. I am 17 years old. I have passed the SSC exam (class 10) and am now enrolled in college. In my family there is my father, mother, and brother. My father is a businessman, running a nut shop. My mother is a housewife, and my brother is a student like me.

“I had a deep desire to learn about computers from the beginning. I wanted to have computer skills because in the modern era, computers are needed for any kind of work such as student studies, job, business, etc. This was my main goal behind enrolling in computer training. My computer experience was zero when I enrolled but, since coming here, I have been slowly learning the functions of Microsoft Office. I especially liked the function of MS PowerPoint the most because presentations can be made through it.

“Through the alumni fellowship, I had a chance to meet students from other batches. Through this fellowship, we not only got the opportunity to get to know each other but also gained knowledge about various other things. For example, we learned about telling the truth, not backbiting others, keeping our inner eyes away from sin, and walking on the right path without greed.

“The main purpose of my life is to be a good person and to help others in trouble. Moreover, I want to be an honest businesswoman like my father. By taking computer training, I want to use these new skills in my business. If I had not got the opportunity to take computer training, I would not have been able to learn these valuable skills that are needed to get a good job and be successful.”

Programme Highlights

Across the centre, a wide range of activities continue to shape lives and strengthen the community:

Through the school programme, students recently completed their second-term exams, with 219 students participating. Alongside their academic studies, they continue to engage in moral education, exploring topics such as the story of creation, honesty, and the dangers of false praise, helping to form both character and understanding.

Our electrical training programme currently has seven students learning practical wiring skills, with hopes for more to join in the future.

Both computer and tailoring programmes continue to thrive. The 6th batch of computer students completed their course last August. A new 7th batch has begun with 18 students. The 12th tailoring batch is ongoing with 21 students.

Alumni fellowships remain a valuable part of these programmes, providing space for encouragement, connection, and deeper reflection, including learning about living with a clear conscience before God.

Regular parents’ meetings provide opportunities to discuss school matters while also exploring moral teachings together. They are also preparing to begin an International Child Development Programme (ICDP) with parents, further strengthening family relationships and child development.

Three couples’ seminars have also been hosted, covering topics such as conflict resolution, building deeper, healthier relationships and community health.

A new community health initiative was also launched, where basic health checks, including weight, height, and blood pressure, were carried out for both children and parents. This is an important step toward improving overall wellbeing in the community.
