A growing school. Women gaining skills for independence. Young people stepping into a more hopeful future.
At the Transformation Northeast Dhaka Centre, lives are being changed every day through education, training, and community support. With record student enrolment, expanding programmes, and new opportunities emerging, there is much to celebrate, but also an urgent need for continued support.
“Just $14 per month can empower one beneficiary.”
The new school year at Ashar Alo Primary School began on 5 January 2026, and it started with a wonderful milestone. This year we welcomed 160 students across all classes, our highest enrolment to date. This growth is a clear reflection of the trust that the local community is placing in the education and care their children receive.
We were delighted to welcome new students and their families through a special orientation programme, helping them to understand school life – from classroom expectations to co-curricular activities. Each child received essential learning materials, including government-provided textbooks along with pencils, pens, and notebooks. Classrooms were decorated, and in February we opened a new space for our youngest learners in the Kindergarten and Play Group.
Strong relationships with families remain central, and we continue to host monthly parents’ meetings throughout the year.
Alongside academic learning, our Moral story classes continue to be an impactful part of school life. Our teachers are committed to sharing these stories in ways that are engaging and understood, and we are seeing encouraging responses from the students. We would value your prayers for this important ministry.
Equipping for the future
Education has been extended, and we launched both our Tailoring course and Basic Computer Training programme on 6th January.
Our tailoring course, now in its 13th batch, is currently equipping 30 women with practical skills that provide opportunities for income and independence. At the same time, 14 young men and women have joined our 6th batch of computer training, learning essential digital skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and online communication/research.
We are especially encouraged by the progress of our bag production initiative, which now employs 5 women who completed the vocational training. Together, they have already produced more than 50 different types of bags, including school and shopping bags. This is steadily growing and offers a glimpse of sustainable change in action.
The vision ahead
We are also thankful to share that we have been able to take over the entire building used for our programmes – an important step forward for the centre. The monthly rent is BDT 90,000 (approximately USD $730), representing a significant ongoing commitment.
While we are making good use of the space, we still dream of developing a rooftop playground – a safe place for children to play and grow. At present, this remains out of reach due to limited funding, but we hope it will become a reality in the future.
An invitation to partner
As we continue to grow, so do the financial needs required to keep going. Each project operates through its own support, and we are currently facing increasing pressure due to rising costs.
Our monthly budget is $2,828, covering education, training, staff salaries, and rent. Yet what is remarkable is how far each contribution goes: Just $14 per month can empower one beneficiary.
We warmly invite you to consider partnering with us – through prayer, financial giving, or both.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue to invest in lives in Northeast Dhaka.
