In the wings
August-2024

SIM NZ has an essential ministry position vacant in the home office and someone waiting to fill it. However Kat can’t start her new role until she is fully funded.

Mobilisation, at its core, is the ministry of connecting the hearts of God’s people with the missionary heart of God. This is the ministry that Kat wishes to concentrate on here in NZ for the next two years.  She’s not only ready and willing to help us recruit those whom God is calling to serve in mission, but will bring a wider set of contacts than we have easily reached in the past.

Her passion for missions led her to SIM and opened the door for her in 2017 to begin working in Asia. In a wonderful way, the Lord brought Dan into her life, and they have been married for over three years now. Realising the importance of reaching out to youth, Kat and Dan have been involved overseas in ministry to high school and university students.

Their long-term vision is to return to Asia to run a ministry centre for young people. In the meantime, Kat will put the cross-cultural experience she has has gained so far to good use as she connects with people in her new mobilising role with SIM NZ.

We want to increase our presence in local churches and Kat will be a part of this effort to partner with churches in mission involvement. Another aspect of mobilising centres around developing ways to engage young people and invite their participation in missions. This is an exciting new role for Kat and one she is looking forward to beginning.

Kat and Dan are extending their time in NZ until Dan can get Permanent Residency.

Dan loves to play futsal, is passionate about music, and loves to write and compose songs in his spare time. Through God’s provision, he has a full time job at the local school here as a property assistant, picking up valuable new skills from various tradesmen. Kat is increasing her knowledge about Christian counselling and coaching through an online course, and hopes to use it in future to serve others. She is also involved with SIM International for LifeShare, a people-care initiative that caters for under-40s SIM workers. When there is a chance, she enjoys getting creative with designing or art.

Pray: that God will bless Kat’s search for financial supporters in the mobilising role, and that this young couple will find encouragement as they seek to develop their skills for what God has for them in future.
