Thriving together: Diaspora and beyond
June-2025

Thriving Together: Diaspora and Beyond is a new project based in Asia, designed to work with local individuals, churches and grassroots organisations to address the diverse needs of people in challenging situations. The project serves both diaspora and returnees.

A new project based in Asia is launching to partner closely with local individuals, churches, and grassroots organisations to bring hope and holistic transformation to people in vulnerable and challenging situations. With a strong focus on collaboration, the initiative aims to empower communities by offering practical support through training, livelihood initiatives, discipleship, health promotion, and capacity building. Special attention is given to three key groups: those vulnerable to migration due to hardship, diaspora individuals living abroad, and returnees re-integrating into their home countries.

This initiative aspires to see lives deeply transformed as individuals experience God’s love and care through tangible acts of service. As people grow in faith and are equipped for service, the project envisions local leaders and community members rising to become agents of change within their environments. By investing in people, sustainable development, discipleship and fostering strong local partnerships, the project aims to enhance the long-term effectiveness and impact of ministry among these often-overlooked communities.

As a result of this project, we hope to see

  • expanded capacity of locals and ministry partners, with enhanced impact and effectiveness of ministry among the target communities.
  • those from the target communities experiencing His love, positive transformation, growth and fullness of life, and that some in turn will be a positive influence in their own communities.

The project serves 3 main groups of people:

  1. Potential Diaspora, including disadvantaged populations vulnerable to migration driven by hardship if their situation doesn’t improve.
  2. Diaspora people living abroad in a host country away from their home country with or without their families.
  3. Returnees who are planning to return or have returned to their home country after time away in a host country.

Activities across the project include training, equipping, livelihood, discipleship, health promotion, hygiene/sanitation/safe drinking water, capacity building, disaster response, migrant ministry, women’s/men’s/youth programmes and mentoring leaders/ministry workers.
