Life has never been more fragile for the global poor in these present conditions of recession.  As much as we’re feeling the pinch in New Zealand, the poor have virtually zero margin in riding out the economic crisis.

Making a Difference to That One (Malawi)

various 595 2-1smlA father and his son were walking along a deserted beach after a particularly high tide had washed up thousands of starfish on to the sand. The boy started picking them up and throwing them back into the water one by one. The father quizzed his son saying, “ You can’t possibly save them all, there are millions, you can’t possibly make a difference.” The boy smiled, bent down and picked up another starfish and as he threw it back into the sea, he replied, “Made a difference to that one.” More

Imagine your daughter at age 15 or 16 taking her first job – in prostitution. In Bangladesh this is a reality for many young women. Once a girl gets into the cycle of the sex industry it is extremely difficult to get out and it becomes a life-long identity that will be most likely passed down to her own children, allowing the cycle to continue through the generations.

HIV and AIDS Ministry Exposure in Home-Based Care  (Malawi)

Are you burdened by the suffering of those dealing with HIV and AIDS ? Now you can do something!

This is a six-month ministry opportunity working with the Malawi HOPE for AIDS program. It will offer exposure to HIV and AIDS ministries through volunteering in the Home-Based Care program, the Orphan Care program, and other ministries.
